CAM'99 is an iPhone camera that records onto tapes instead of a camera roll.

Each tape has a fixed length, from 1 minute to 2 hours, and a fixed brand, and the brand is the look. SUNDAY is warm and golden, like a family camcorder in 1996. NITELIFE is hot and saturated, the video light at a party. AQUA DV is sharp and cool, a MiniDV in 2001. MATINEE is cinema mode on an S-VHS-C camcorder. Recording is one red button, with no filters or sliders. To change the look, put in another tape.

Clips land in order with the look and an optional date stamp printed in. When the minutes run out, the tab snaps and the tape is finished: a little film of a weekend or a trip that needs no editing. Save the whole tape, a 30-second trailer or one clip to Photos, with no watermark.

No account, no feed. Tapes stay on the phone, and recording never asks for money.
